It's tough for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have long been mastered.

We're talking about the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are the only things left for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to possess a record if not provided the chance.

Finally, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to create her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it was a challenging time because it seemed I lacked timing whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was removed the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing rival teams at this World Cup want to hear.

During the last week a belief they will triumph from any situation has become more firm - this success following victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back plans to retire, this World Cup is likely to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
